Design

Designing for personal and professional settings.

Graphic design has been an important part of all of my work, whether in my professional life to design engaging materials for citizen participation, or in my personal life to design gifts and stationary for events. Any of my design work has been client-focused, ensuring the design in their imagination comes to life with the help of my design experience. Below are some examples of my design work for a range of personal and professional clients.

Global Urban Research Unit

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of GURU, the timeline was developed to showcase 25 years of research and scholarship. I designed the brochure, celebratory logo and other materials such as a the banner, to help GURU celebrate their achievements at a range of events.
The full brochure timeline can be viewed here.

The Ansari Wedding

I designed a range of personalised wedding stationary for the Ansari wedding including invitations, information sheets, RSVP cards, table plan, table cards, place names and other items. To add to the special design, I personally hand embossed each invitation, RSVP card and table plan. The gold embossing provided the final touches to an elegant design.

Heritage & Skills

Working in heritage skills and conservation required leaflets and brochures that fit with the company’s brand. The colour selection came from the company logo and the client requested a simple design.

The McGowan Wedding

From the invitations, information and RSVPs to seating signs, tables plans and sweetie bags, I designed range of kraft wedding stationary. Pastel colours were the couple’s choice, and to add a playful element, small illustrations were used throughout.

Self Harmony Hackathon

Supporting a hackathon event, I designed a range of design challenge cards to support participants in the activities. Using an existing colour palette and continuing a style of design in other event materials, the cards needed to be useful and eye catching.

Jenny Penny Cakes

For our family cake business, I developed a website design and range of promotional materials to use at events to provide current and future customers with information. The design was carried through to all parts of the business, including designing our stand at wedding fairs and our presence at other sales events.

Healthwatch

Within the confines of the national branding, I designed a range of materials for Healthwatch Newcastle, later used by other local branches. Posters, leaflets and materials to use at events gave a consistent feel across the brand.

Engagement Materials

As part of my work with local communities in a range of capacities, I designed posters, leaflets and exhibition materials to engage citizens in issues that affect them. Here the selection includes posters displayed in a range of locations to gather public views on a the regeneration and planning of their local neighbourhood.

Celebration Gifts

I designed a range of personalised prints and designs that customers could give to their loved ones. Each design was created with someone special in mind and each made a thoughtful and personal gift.
